Student accommodation at The University of Manchester The consensus view is that the best one seems to be Oak House but I really don't want to share a bathroom with 7 other people so that's my shortlist based on the fact that they are all self-catered, en-suite and just generally look good. The halls are in flats rather than corridors so it's more difficult to meet other people that live near you, however it is possible. The rooms are small but the location is great due to the large volume of students that live close by. Fallowfield is a place for somebody who is enthusiastic and excited about new opportunities, meeting new people and trying something different. Each flat is set on two floors, with 4 bedrooms and a bathroom on each floor. Oak House is in the vibrant Fallowfield campus. I think that because there are only four flats to a block you meet everyone who lives in it. It's not the most attractive but everyone here loves their first year. Not everyone will instantly find life in halls easy, and almost no one you meet will have lived away from home before, so its perfectly normal to have a few rocky patches.

It's approximately a 15 minutes' walk to the University's main campus, however there are also frequent bus services operating along Wilmslow Road and Anson Road. The best Hall if what you're looking for is loads of flat parties, loads of people, and loads of intoxicated experiences. 8 people (4 boys and 4 girls) share 1 flat, which is situated over 2 floors (yes that does mean there are stairs within the flat itself). I would say that it is better to just have your meals cooked in catered because you wont know if you're put in with people who wont do things the way you'd likeat least next year you get to choose who you live with so you'll know whether someone is extremely messy,annoyingly pedantic about mess or inbetween and judge what type of person youd personally want to live with. If you end up in Chestnut Court you do get a sink and a bigger bedroom to go with it, but the flip side is that the kitchen/living rooms are quite a bit smaller. As freshers flu still lingers, everyone is starting to settle in and Oak House leads the way for social life in Fallowfield I, for one, wouldnt change it for the world. University of Manchester Students' Union You have your independence and your freedom but you also have ResLife, security staff, people you see every day. In catered halls, meals are served in communal dining halls for you to enjoy with fellow residents. However, despite how sociable the halls are, they are not as lively as some might have you believe - after the initial first couple of weeks, they only really become mildly noisy at night on the weekends and the odd weekday - I have not had any trouble sleeping/revising for exams and I need deadly silence for both of those things! The rooms are small and are a horrible colour of green with green and orange tartan curtains. There's plenty of room for storing things, but I'd advise you buy some big flat boxes for underwear etc., so you can store more underneath the bed, and also for the top of the wardrobe. University of Manchester Students' Union I thought it might be a little bit awkward at first sharing a bathroom, but I found actually in the first few weeks it helped me get out of my room a bit more because I hadtoshower and brush my teeth, and I think it definitely made me more comfortable living there.

The bedrooms are not the biggest but they by far do and each bedroom contains a bed (with mattress and protector), very large desks with 3 draws attached, 6 plug sockets, a large wardrobe with inbuilt mirror on the inside of the door, a desk lamp, Ethernet cable slot, window and radiator, hooks behind the door and a 2-tier shelf. If you choose to rent from a landlord or provider who is not on our accreditation scheme, dont worry, we can still provide support and information to you if you have any issues free of charge, but we would be unable to physically act as a mediator as we can with our accredited landlords.
